Mar + Scott: History Park Wedding Reception in San Jose

The love present on a wedding day is unlike anything else.  It fills the day with such joy and happiness.  For Mar and Scott, they had a whole week of wedding joy that started with a small and intimate ceremony in New Mexico and ended with a celebration of their love at a reception the following week in San Jose.  And what a celebration it was.

From the details to the venue, I loved how this wedding reception was a reflection of how special they are as a couple.  One of my favorite details was the centerpieces of both the cocktail tables and reception tables.  The tables were named after a bottle of wine that Mar and Scott had drank over the past year with family and friends.  Each had a card that explained what the occasion was and who was there with them on that particular day.  It was a sweet personal touch and such fun to read through them all.  Their reception was held a few Saturday’s ago in San Jose.  And on that day, surrounded by friends and family, Mar and Scott made a bit of their own history in History Park.

Mar and Scott, a heartfelt thank you!  We loved getting to know you guys throughout this past year and truly enjoyed being a part of your wedding day. It was such an honor to be witness to a love that is so beautiful. Hope you had a spectacular honeymoon in Italy filled with relaxation (and a bit of Italian wine).  xoxo

This was one of my favorite guest book ideas I’ve seen!  What a great piece of art to later hang in their home.

The reception started in the late afternoon with a cocktail hour and a bit of mingling with their guests.

And who doesn’t love surprise fireworks?  The San Jose Giants were right across the street so the guests also got to enjoy a fireworks show.

I love these last two frames from the very end of the night.  Mar and Scott’s family and friends encircled them as the last songs began to play.

Mexico. With A Bit Of Disney Wonder.

I sat in the dark cool theater and found myself getting lost in the songs the performers were singing.  And for some reason the words seemed to speak to me and touch me in a way that I didn’t expect.  I mean, who gets misty-eyed during a Disney musical?  Apparently, this girl.  The quotes of Walt Disney seem to get to me every time.

That was just one of the moments in a Disney filled week two months ago.  A few of my favorite people and I packed our bags and headed on a Disney cruise to Mexico for a week.  After our week at sea, I came home incredibly inspired and with a full heart.  Traveling always does that for me. Having everything align and to have two of my closest girlfriends there to enjoy every second with was perfection.  We experienced as much of Mexico as we could in our brief stops to Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas.  But I also loved our downtime of just chatting and relaxing.  And laughing. There was lots and lots of smiling and laughing.

Our first port day was in Puerto Vallarta.  We traded in our big boat and headed to a sleepy little beach town along the coast.

Our adventure day began as we rode mules up the mountain.  Zip lining through the Sierra Madre Mountains was amazing. We also got to rappel down a waterfall which was incredible.

I always love sunsets.  But a full moon that lit up the night sky and sea was a special treat.

We had two days in Cabo.  It was quite the opposite of the lush and green Puerto Vallarta but I loved it just as much.

After our first day in Cabo, it was a pirate party on the top deck complete with fireworks at sea.

Our cruise crew enjoying our last relaxing day in Cabo.

It was back to our boat and we said our goodbyes to Cabo as we sailed off towards home.  Thank you travel buddies for a trip I will always treasure!  Love you guys!

Perrin + Marshall: Los Altos and Elks Lodge Wedding in Palo Alto

It was their day.  Every wedding day is always about the bride and groom but this one in particular seemed to fit who they are as a couple perfectly. They tangoed.  They ribbon danced.  They replayed their childhood and teenage years through an emotional and touching slideshow.  And being that they are both lawyers, they incorporated a little bit law into their ceremony.  It was a day of celebration surrounded by those who mean the most to them.

Perrin and Marshall, congratulations!  Thank you for having us be a part of your special day.  From one fellow SF Lancer couple to another, wishing you guys all the best and a lifetime of happiness.  Hope you guys are having a wonderful and relaxing honeymoon abroad!

Sweet slideshow moments and reactions.

I’ll end with a few frames from their cake cutting.  It quickly turned into a cake smash but that is just part of the wedding day fun.

Hayley + Gabor: Livermore Engagement

When Gabor proposed to Hayley, it was all about the promise. The promise to wed and spend their forevers together.  The engagement ring came later and I thought that it was a perfect reminder that an engagement is about that commitment just as the wedding is about the marriage and the joining of two hearts.  Gabor had chosen their engagement session a couple of weeks ago to surprise Hayley with a beautiful engagement ring.  Our few hours together were filled with moments like that.  It’s what makes these two such fun to photograph.

Everything about this session was inspiring.  Gabor and Hayley really did their research in trying to find the ideal location for their engagement session.  They knew what they wanted and searched until they found this spectacular spot nestled in the Livermore hills.  A big thank you to you both for all the time you put into making this engagement session perfect.  We are so honored to be a part of your story that just beams with love and joy.  It was such fun spending the afternoon with you guys and we are beyond excited for your wedding day in a few short months!  xoxo.

Gabor had filled me in a week or two prior that he wanted to surprise Hayley with an engagement ring during their session.  Code words and plans commenced and it was such a special moment to be witness to.

Perrin + Marshall: Bay Area Engagement

The weather in Northern California had been beautiful.  Sunny and unusually warm for March.  But as Marshall and Perrin’s engagement session neared, rain was forecasted and we soon realized that a big storm was imminent.  Somewhere along the way, we decided to just embrace the showers instead of rescheduling.  Our plans for the location changed last minute but sometimes it’s just more fun to roll with it.

We started the afternoon at Marshall’s house which also happens to be the location of their future wedding ceremony.   We hoped it would buy us some time and the rain would slow, but we had no such luck.  It rained nonstop for the whole session and it ended with this sweet couple getting pretty soaked.  They still were all smiles which made me like them even that much more.  Thanks you two for a fun day and we are so pumped for your wedding next month!  xoxo.
